Moving from California to Indiana in 2026: Save $1,500–$3,000 Monthly – Antioch CA vs Fishers IN Deep Dive
Hosted by: Digital Marketing Strategist Michael Hayes & Website User Experience Consultant Rachel Thornton
In this eye-opening episode of Cara Conde’s Podcast, Michael Hayes and Rachel Thornton take a no-holds-barred look at one of the hottest relocation trends in 2026: families ditching high-cost California suburbs like Antioch for booming, family-first Indiana gems like Fishers. Drawing directly from Cara Conde’s latest blog — “Moving from California to Indiana in 2026: Save $1,500–$3,000 Monthly – Antioch CA vs Fishers IN Cost Comparison” — they unpack the real numbers, lifestyle shifts, and why thousands are making the move.
Key takeaways from the episode:
2026 housing reality: Antioch median home ~$588K vs. Fishers ~$420K — what $600K actually buys you in each city (spoiler: much bigger homes, yards, and equity in Fishers)
Massive monthly savings: $1,500–$3,000+ for a family of 4 (detailed breakdown: housing, utilities, groceries, gas, taxes)
Schools upgrade: From Antioch Unified’s C+ (low proficiency) to Hamilton Southeastern’s A+ (98–99% graduation, top national rankings)
Safety edge: Fishers ranks among America’s safest cities vs. Antioch’s higher crime concerns
Tax wins: Indiana’s flat ~3% income tax vs. California’s up to 13.3% — plus lower property tax bills
Lifestyle trade-offs: Milder CA winters vs. Indiana’s four seasons, trails, and community vibe — most say the savings and peace win out
Who should move? Families, remote workers, anyone tired of CA costs/crime/schools — and who shouldn’t
Michael and Rachel analyze how Cara’s data-driven post positions relocation as a smart, life-changing decision — not just a move. They discuss website UX tips for making relocation content more engaging (Rachel) and digital marketing strategies to reach CA escapees (Michael), plus Cara’s expert insights as an Indianapolis Realtor® with 20+ years guiding these exact transitions.
